A Trip to Atlanta

A long weekend trip to Atlanta should be a relaxing and fun time. For this reason, the South’s second largest city is a haven for tourists and visitors from all over the world. The city is known for many reasons, including the history of the famous six flags that now call Atlanta home, a professional basketball team (the Atlanta Hawks), the largest film production facility in the country, and world class restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. This highly anticipated visit is sure to be a good one for any Atlanta visitor. There are a few things to keep in mind when traveling to this fun city.

Many Atlanta travel packages include accommodations, transportation, meals, tours, and fine dining. The average price of a seven-day trip to Atlanta is approximately $1,827. This includes a round trip ticket on an airplane, hotel accommodations, meals, and on-sight activities. Most Atlanta hotels range in prices from just under a hundred dollars to over two hundred dollars a night, with an average price of around six hundred dollars.

The food and entertainment options available to visitors to the South’s second largest city are many and varied. Guests can choose between five and eight-course meals, twenty to forty appetizers, sixty to ninety appetizers, and a full bar or cocktail menu. Many Atlanta hotels also offer valet parking, concierge, free wireless internet, laundry facilities, concierge, and a friendly staff to greet guests. Onsite activities may include golfing on an eighteen-hole course, tennis, water skiing, horseback riding, indoor cycling, and hiking. A popular summer activity is the Georgia Peach Festival, which showcases more than three hundred varieties of peach trees and their fruit as well as the region’s famous peach carving. Another popular summer event is the Fourth of July fireworks show.

There are numerous hiking trails in Georgia, including both the Atlanta metropolitan area and the rural Deggwood wilderness. Hikers can enjoy a scenic hike along Atlanta’s Peachtree Park trail or venture into the wilderness on one of Georgia’s many mountain trails. Mountain bikers will feel like they’re in the Mediterranean while white water rafting adventures can be experienced safely in the quiet waters of Lake Lanier or the peaceful river valleys of Ellijay. Hikers can find affordable maps of any of these trails at their local National Park headquarters.

Once you’ve visited Atlanta, you may wonder about the flight costs. While flights to Atlanta are not quite as high as those to London or Paris, the cost of airfare is still lower than it would be in these other cities. You can contact several airlines for the best price on your trip and compare how much each plane seat would cost on your return flight from Atlanta. If you’d rather skip an airline trip altogether and arrange a visit to Atlanta by car, you can find affordable rental cars at the airport or around the city. You can also inquire with Atlanta hotels for further information on car rentals or hotels with special packages for travelers visiting from out of town.

If you decide to take a long road trip through Georgia, you’ll likely find that lodging and meals are a major expense. If you are taking a more economical trip, consider planning to stay in one of the many vacation rentals in Atlanta. These homes are available across all price ranges and can provide a comfortable place to stay while on your trip. Vacation rentals are also great for families, couples and business groups planning multiple trips to Atlanta.
